General Information

This guide was created to aid shareholders in possibly reducing the costs related to the Internet, Cable TV & Phone services you are currently subscribed to. By replacing Cable TV service with other Internet based options, you can greatly reduce your costs. You can also receive broadcast and cable TV channels, including Premium Channels, on other platforms that are more cost effective. Additionally, you can further lower costs by replacing equipment that you are renting from your Internet Service Provider (WiFi router). At the end of this document, we have included a link to an article that can provide you with a more in depth description of this process and your options.

Disclaimer

This guide is to be used at your own discretion. It contains commonly shared recommendations that may reduce your costs. Additionally, the effectiveness of receiving broadcast TV channels by using an HDTV Antenna is dependent on your location within the building. There is a possibility that you will not receive adequate reception.

Cancelling Spectrum TV

This option can reduce your monthly costs by $90, or more, based on your cable package. 

  1. Broadcast television channels can be received for FREE, despite Spectrum charging you for them

Solution: there are multiple ways to receive broadcast television channels at no cost 

    • If you do not have a streaming device, and your TV has a built-in HDTV tuner, then you can receive broadcast television channels by connecting an HDTV Antenna directly to your television

Note: Some TV streaming services listed below include some broadcast television channels

  1. If you require access to cable channels, they can be viewed without having Cable TV service

Solution: there are multiple TV streaming services that provide a bundle of channels via a dedicated app

    • If you have a streaming device (AppleTV, Google Chromecast, Fire TV etc.), or SmartTV, you can subscribe to a TV streaming service, and download the corresponding streaming app

    • There are many TV streaming services available 

    • Some popular options are (from lowest to highest cost):

      1. Philo (from $25 per month) Cable Channels Only

      2. Sling TV (from $35 per month) Cable Channels Only

      3. fubuTV (from $64.99 per month) Cable & Broadcast Channels

      4. YouTube TV (from $64.99 per month) Cable & Broadcast Channels

      5. Hulu + Live TV (from $69.99 per month) Cable & Broadcast Channels

      6. AT&T TV Now (from $69.99 per month) Cable & Broadcast Channels

    • In addition to viewing channels through a streaming box, these services offer corresponding apps for phones/tablets

Note: It is not possible to stream cable channels without a streaming device, or SmartTV

Removing Premium Channels (HBO, Showtime, etc.) 

This option can also reduce your monthly costs

  1. You may be overpaying for Premium Channels from your Internet Service Provider (ISP), that adds to your overall costs 

Solution: Premium Channels can be added to your TV streaming service or streaming apps

    • Some of the TV streaming services listed above, allow you to add Premium Channels to your subscription

    • If you have a streaming device (AppleTV, Google Chromecast, Fire TV etc.), or SmartTV, you can add Premium Channels to apps that you may already be using

    • There are many TV streaming platforms that allow you to add Premium Channels

    • Some popular options are:

      1. AppleTV+

      2. Amazon Prime Video

Replacing Your WiFi Router 

This option can reduce your monthly costs by $5

  1. Renting certain equipment from Spectrum, adds to your overall costs 

Solution: replacing your WiFi router is a relatively simple process
